Mission and Vision

Mission Statement

  • As a parish within the Archdiocese of Cape Town, and united with
the Catholic Church throughout the world, we the people of St
John’s Catholic Church, proclaim our faith in Jesus Christ.
  • As sharers in the mission of Jesus Christ through our baptism and
our commitment to living the Gospel message, we are called to
    evangelization.
  • We gather as a Catholic community centred on Christ in the
Eucharist to worship, share faith, grow spiritually, and support one
    another.
  • We seek to be a church of welcome and we are blessed to represent
many cultures and traditions from within South Africa and across
    Africa.

members of the parish by participation in the various ministries. Knowing
that the Holy Family sought asylum in Africa, refugees and immigrants
hold a special place in our community.

  • Service

We strive to respond with compassion to both the spiritual and corporal
needs of those around us, sharing with others the gifts and talents we
have received from God. We provide food and material goods to the
    homeless and the poor.

  • Participation

We value and recognise the contribution of volunteers within our parish
community. We invite members to share their gifts and talents to serve
and promote the well-being of the local community.
